Parcel Radar shows parcel delays per province using a colour scale: darkest green represents 0% delay, through to black, which indicates over 30% delay.
- We count a parcel as delayed when it hasn't been delivered on the scheduled date
- Collections, Parcel Shop deliveries, and issues related to the sender or recipient aren't included in delay calculations
- Figures are based on shipments from the Netherlands' largest carriers

Christmas Eve was just around the corner, which meant presents and parcels had to be delivered all over. Fortunately, most deliveries went smoothly: in the final week, only 8.08% of parcels were delayed on average, according to Parcel Radar, a data analysis by Wuunder. Compared to a year earlier, delays had decreased, in week 51 of 2023, the weekly average was still 10%. Looking at this year's parcel traffic, delivery services faced busier weeks; in week 49, 25.5% of parcels were delayed.
Peak delays Monday, recovery by Friday
Monday 16 December saw the highest delays at 13.7% on average. Throughout the week, delays dropped as carriers were starting to get parcel rush under control. The largest average delays were in Drenthe (10.9%), Utrecht (10.4%) and South Holland (10.4%). Zeeland, however, recorded the lowest number of delayed parcels with just 3.5% average delay.
Average waiting times for consumers
Average delivery time was 1.37 days in week 49, 1.17 days in week 50 and 1.02 days in week 51. This shows most carriers had their processes back on track. The fastest carrier averaged 0.7 days. The slowest took 1.34 days, almost twice as long.
