How does Magento 2 shipping work with Wuunder?
Step 1: Connect your Magento 2 webshop
Install the Wuunder extension via Composer and enable the module in your admin panel. Connect to your Wuunder account and decide which carriers, services and rates to offer per storefront.
Step 2: Configure your checkout
Define which delivery options to activate per destination country: home delivery, pickup points, lockers, Nominated Day or Best Day Delivery (GreenChoice). Configure which carriers are available and which pricing rules apply (own rates or Resell).
Step 3: PuzzlPack calculates the optimal packaging
Based on the items in the shopping cart, PuzzlPack automatically calculates the smallest packaging. This determines which carriers and services are available: does it fit in a locker? A letterbox? Or is a pallet cheaper than multiple parcels?
Step 4: GreenChoice optimizes the delivery moment
When activated, GreenChoice shows the customer a delivery day when the carrier is already in the neighbourhood. This spreads your warehouse volume across the week and lowers fulfilment costs.
Step 5: The Magento checkout module shows the result of steps 2-4 to your customer
The Wuunder Checkout widget loads as a custom shipping method in your Magento 2 checkout. As soon as your customer enters a delivery address, the module makes a real-time API call and presents: available carriers and services for that destination (step 2), only options that fit the calculated dimensions such as lockers if the parcel fits (step 3, PuzzlPack), GreenChoice as the pre-selected sustainable delivery day (step 4), an interactive map with pickup points and lockers, real-time rates including surcharges, and Nominated Day for choosing a specific delivery day. This works with the standard Luma/Blank checkout and with Hyvä. Language and currency switch automatically per store view. → View screenshots and all checkout capabilities
Step 6: Customer places the order.
Wuunder passes the order to your WMS on the correct packing day.
Step 7: Pick & pack in your warehouse.
The order arrives in your WMS or ERP backend with the selected carrier, service and expected pickup day. Your warehouse staff picks the items and PuzzlPack indicates which box or packaging to use. The label is printed (via One Click Printing or bulk) and attached to the parcel. Multi-colli orders are supported. Customs documents for non-EU shipments are automatically included. If the carrier supports paperless customs, Wuunder passes all data directly to the carrier.
Step 8: Pickup by the carrier
The carrier is automatically informed when the label is created. Pickup takes place on the next business day, or at your fixed daily collection times.
Step 9: Branded tracking to your customer
Wuunder Track sends proactive status notifications to your customer in the storefront language: pickup, transit, delivery attempt and final delivery. Delays are flagged before the customer contacts support.
Step 10: Returns via the return portal
Your customer initiates a return via Wuunder Returns: a branded portal on your own domain. Use QR code or print label, drop-off at a local pickup point, and the option to exchange instead of return. Return status is visible in real-time in your Magento backend.
The Wuunder Checkout in Magento
The Wuunder Checkout widget is a JavaScript module that integrates directly into the shipping step of your Magento 2 checkout. Technically, the widget replaces the standard Magento shipping block and dynamically displays all delivery options based on cart contents and delivery address.
What your customer sees in the Magento checkout:
- Delivery options per carrier with real-time rates, delivery times and applicable surcharges
- An interactive map with pickup points and lockers (Parcelshop Locator), filtered on what actually fits (PuzzlPack checks dimensions)
- GreenChoice: a pre-selected sustainable delivery day when the carrier is already in the neighbourhood, visually marked as the green option
- Nominated Day: the ability to choose a specific delivery day (morning, afternoon, evening)
- Automatic language and currency switching per store view for multi-storefront setups
How the widget works technically in Magento
The extension loads the Wuunder checkout widget as a custom shipping method. On every address change (postcode, country), the widget makes a real-time API call to retrieve available options. This works with both the standard Luma/Blank checkout and for instance the Hyvä React checkout.
You configure in MyWuunder which carriers, services and pricing rules are shown. The widget adapts automatically per market: a Dutch customer sees PostNL and DHL, a Belgian customer sees Bpost and DPD, a French customer sees Colissimo. No code changes needed per market.
Technical integration
- Installation via Composer: composer require wuunder/magento2
- Compatible with Magento 2.3.6+ and 2.4+
- Hyvä checkout compatible
- REST API for custom builds: checkout, ship, track and returns fully accessible via API's
- Webhooks for real-time status updates to your ERP/WMS
- Multi-warehouse support: different shipping rules per warehouse/fulfilment location

In 15 minutes, we walk through your current shipping process to Germany. We show you which carriers, services and rates fit best.
Q: Which carrier is cheapest for Germany?
A: Wuunder has 120,000 services available as standard. This lets you instantly see which services are available to Germany. If you use your own rates, you compare actual rates and can easily verify the carrier's invoice. See the full carrier overview for all available carriers.
Q: Can I have Saturday delivery in Germany?
A: Yes. DPD and DHL deliver to residential addresses in Germany on Saturdays. Configure this via your shipping rules in Wuunder Checkout so your customer sees the correct delivery day.
Q: How fast is delivery to Germany?
A: Standard parcels are delivered in 1-2 business days. Express services like UPS Express Saver and DHL Express offer next-day delivery before a guaranteed time. Your customer tracks the shipment via Wuunder Track.
Q: Can I ship pallets to Germany?
A: Yes. Via DHL Europlus Pallet and TNT you ship pallets up to 1,000 kg to business addresses in Germany. DSV and TOV Solutions also offer pallet transport via our platform. View all carriers.
Q: How do returns from Germany work?

Q: Do I need to register with the German Verpackungsregister?
A: Yes. Every webshop shipping packaged goods to German consumers must register with LUCID under the Verpackungsgesetz (VerpackG). This applies to non-German retailers as well. Without registration you risk a sales ban and fines.
Q: What checkout options do German customers expect?
