Wuunder Newsletter September 2026
We have been busy lately. In this newsletter you will find fresh data and new research by The University of Groningen, and the key dates to get ready for one of the busiest weeks of the year. Also (especially for our Shopify Plus clients) an interesting webinar is coming up this month.
New research: one checkout setting takes sustainable delivery from 7% to 75%
Together with the University of Groningen, we ran an eight-month field experiment in a live checkout. The finding is clear: when fast delivery is the default, around 7% of shoppers pick the more sustainable option.
Pre-select the sustainable option instead, and that share rises to 75%, without a discount and without costing you margin. Customers do want greener delivery.
Parcel Radar 11: the Monday peak starts in the checkout
Our latest Parcel Radar shows that more than a third (38%) of all orders in the Netherlands were made ready for dispatch on a Monday in 2025. That is a steep peak next to 17% on Tuesday and even less later in the week. The cause sits in the checkout: with next day delivery still being the standard, everything ordered from Friday afternoon piles up until Monday. When shoppers can pick a delivery day later in the week, that peak flattens from 38% to 28%, giving warehouses a calmer and more predictable week. That is exactly what Best Day Delivery with GreenChoice does: it lets your customers choose a delivery day when a carrier is already nearby, spreading orders across the week and flattening your Monday peak.
Webinar | 23 September
Our implementation manager, Mitchel Osseforth, shows how to turn the checkout on Shopify Plus into a value driver. You will see how moving from a generic one-size-fits-all delivery option to a range of choices that actually match the customers needs, leads to smoother logistics and a higher conversion rate. Live on 23 September at 10:00 AM.
Plan ahead for the holiday season
The holidays are the busiest stretch of the year for parcel delivery, and a little planning keeps your shipments on track. Our updated overview lists the adjusted delivery times, cut-off dates and carrier schedules. Our European public holidays calendar for 2026 shows the national holidays per country, so you can anticipate days when pickups and deliveries pause.
Checkout Feature Freeze before peak
As every year, we run a Feature Freeze in November. We pause major releases to focus fully on stability and performance during the busiest shopping weeks, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Building on last year's learnings, we have strengthened our infrastructure with more resources, better monitoring and performance improvements.

DHL
DHL is introducing new measures to reduce physical strain for its people and to meet the requirements of the Dutch Labour Inspectorate. Some of these may affect how you hand over your shipments. The main points:
- Pallets: maximum height of 2 metres, and above 1.75 metres only parcels under 3kg
- Roll containers: above 1.75 metres only parcels under 3kg
- A mandatory weight icon on parcels over 10kg and over 20kg
- Parcels over 31.5kg must be handed over on a pallet
Carrier update: PostNL
PostNL is investing heavily in its parcel locker network over the coming years, growing from around 1,800 lockers today to roughly 7,500 by 2031, according to its annual report. The goal is for everyone in the Netherlands to reach a locker within seven minutes.
All of these locations, including the new and upcoming ones, are easy to surface in your webshop checkout through the Wuunder parcelshop and locker locator, so your customers can pick the pickup point that suits them best.
DSV Schenker
DSV Schenker is connected to the Wuunder platform. This allows pallet shipments, less-than-truckload (LTL), and full-truckload (FTL) freights to be booked throughout Europe, for both B2B and B2C deliveries. Shipping labels can be printed in the correct format, and shipments can be followed via real-time tracking. With this integration, Wuunder proves that, alongside parcels, pallet handling can also be processed quickly and easily.
