Shipping Software for 3PL & Fulfilment | Wuunder

Shipping software for 3PL and fulfilment partners

As a fulfilment company, you juggle client accounts, carriers and systems every day. Wuunder brings everything together in one platform, so you can focus on what matters: growing your clients' business.

Why 3PLs need a different shipping platform

Most shipping software is built for single-brand webshops with one return address and one carrier contract. As a fulfilment partner, you manage dozens of clients, each with their own carrier preferences, rates and branding.

Wuunder is built for that complexity. Each client runs their own Wuunder account with their own checkout, carriers and settings. As a 3PL you create labels through your own account and link them to the right client accounts, so your clients have full visibility into what you do for them. Booking codes come in via the client's e-commerce software or ERP system.

GreenChoice and Best Day Delivery: lower peaks, lower costs, a more competitive offer

As a fulfilment partner, your business revolves around cost per shipment. Anything that lowers your peak, lowers your costs. And that is exactly the problem most shipping platforms ignore.

The Monday peak problem

60% of all B2C orders are placed during the weekend. Monday is therefore the busiest packing day in your warehouse. You need temp workers, your permanent team works overtime and error rates climb. Tuesday is then the busiest delivery day for the carrier: overloaded vans, more delays, more failed deliveries. Those failed deliveries turn into "where is my package?" calls to your support team.

This is the reality for most 3PLs. Every single week.

How GreenChoice solves this

GreenChoice works through the checkout of your clients' webshops. Instead of automatically showing "deliver tomorrow," the consumer chooses a delivery day when the carrier is already in the neighbourhood. We call this Best Day Delivery: not the fastest day, but the smartest day.

One choice in the checkout triggers a chain reaction across the entire logistics chain:

  1. Consumer picks a delivery day → 88% voluntarily choose the green option when offered (Soxs.co/University of Groningen research). Not because they have to, but because they value the conscious choice.
  2. Orders spread across the week → instead of everything on Monday, orders are distributed across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
  3. Your warehouse → the Monday peak flattens. Fewer temp workers needed, less overtime, more predictable staff planning. Result: up to 30% lower fulfilment costs (Wuunder data).
  4. The carrier → the Tuesday peak flattens too. Fuller vans instead of overloaded routes. 20% fewer delivery vans on the road (University of Groningen research). Fewer trips means lower transport costs, savings you can pass on to your clients as sharper rates.
  5. The recipient → chooses a day they are actually home. Fewer failed deliveries, fewer returns, fewer support inquiries for you.
  6. The environment → fuller vans + fewer trips = 7.5% lower CO₂ per shipment (University of Groningen research).
  7. Your clients' conversion → consumers appreciate the choice. Neleman, a Wuunder client, saw +30% higher conversion after activating GreenChoice in the checkout (University of Groningen research).

What this means for you as a 3PL

Most shipping platforms only optimise labelling. Wuunder optimises the entire chain, starting at your clients' checkout. When your clients activate GreenChoice, you benefit directly:

  • Predictable workload: no more extreme peaks, fewer temp workers needed
  • Lower cost per shipment: up to 30% lower fulfilment costs that you can translate into more competitive rates
  • Lower transport costs: fuller vans, fewer trips, lower carrier invoices
  • Less support: fewer failed deliveries = fewer calls and emails
  • Sustainability story: your clients can hit their own sustainability goals at no extra cost. More and more brands require this from their fulfilment partner

This is not a theoretical model. All results have been scientifically validated by the University of Groningen in a live checkout environment. Read more about the research.

GreenChoice is available for Shopware, Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud and via the Wuunder API.

How the account structure works

Each client has their own Wuunder account and runs their own checkout from it, in collaboration with you as their 3PL. The client sends the right booking codes through their e-commerce platform or ERP system. You create shipping labels from your own account and link them to the right client accounts.

This delivers two benefits:

  • Your clients keep visibility: they see exactly which shipments you processed for them, which carriers were used and what the status is. Transparency without you having to produce extra reports.
  • You keep operational control: from your own account you process labels for multiple clients, each with their own carrier contracts or via resell partners (PostNL, DHL, DPD).

Onboarding a new client? The client creates a Wuunder account, connects their carriers and checkout, and you are ready to produce labels. No weeks of implementation, no IT project.

Automatic carrier selection per shipment

Every client has different carrier agreements. Wuunder automatically selects the best service per shipment based on weight, dimensions, destination and client rates.

Using PuzzlPack, we calculate the optimal packaging per order. Your warehouse staff see exactly which box or envelope to use: no guessing, no waste. Wuunder then compares all available services automatically and selects the cheapest or fastest option.

With label pre-production you can work ahead as a 3PL: generate labels in bulk before orders are physically picked. When a team member scans the parcel, the right label is already waiting. This speeds up your packing process significantly, especially during peak volumes.

Connect your WMS, ERP or OMS

Wuunder integrates with the systems you already use:

Orders flow in automatically from your WMS. Labels are generated, customs documents created and tracking codes sent back to the source system. No manual re-entry, no errors.

Don't see your system? Contact our team, we connect with virtually any system.

Stay flexible, no vendor lock-in

Most shipping platforms want you to adopt their entire stack. Wuunder works the other way around: you connect our APIs to your own systems. You stay in control.

In practice this means:

  • Implement step by step: start with just the Ship API for labelling. Add Checkout, Track or Returns later when you are ready. Each API works independently, no all-or-nothing commitment.
  • Your system stays in charge: Wuunder adds functionality to your existing WMS, OMS or custom portal. You replace nothing, you enrich what you already have.
  • No vendor lock-in: because you connect per API layer, you can replace or extend individual components without rewriting your entire integration.
  • Small implementations, fast go-live: no big IT project with months of lead time. Each API step is a manageable sprint.

For 3PLs serving multiple clients this is crucial: you can decide per client which Wuunder modules to deploy, without being tied to a monolithic platform.

From parcel to pallet

Your clients don't just ship parcels. With Wuunder you manage the full spectrum:

Transport prices locked, invoicing under control

Carrier invoices are notoriously complex: surcharges, corrections and price discrepancies make invoice verification a time-consuming job. Wuunder locks in the carrier's transport price at the moment of booking. You know exactly what a shipment costs before it leaves the warehouse.

This means:

  • Easier invoicing to your clients: the price is fixed, no surprises after the fact
  • Faster carrier invoice verification: compare the locked price against what the carrier invoices and spot discrepancies instantly
  • 2 to 5% of carrier invoices contain errors: with locked prices you catch those errors instead of paying them unnoticed

Scalable from 100 to 10,000+ shipments per day

Whether you process 100 or 10,000 shipments per day, Wuunder scales with you:

  • Bulk processing: select, label and book hundreds of shipments at once
  • Scanning: scan barcodes in the warehouse for error-free processing
  • Handle peaks: seasonal surges like Black Friday and Christmas without extra manual work
  • Multi-warehouse: operate from multiple locations with the same configurationProactive communication that takes pressure off your support team

Proactive communication that takes pressure off your support team

As a 3PL, the last thing you want is recipients calling you about a delayed parcel. Wuunder makes sure it never gets that far.

Mailer: automated follow-up on delays

When a shipment is two days overdue, Wuunder automatically sends a signal to the carrier to take action. At the same time, the recipient receives a proactive message so they don't call or email you. The issue is resolved before it reaches your support team.

Mailforward: work ahead without confusion

As a 3PL you often pre-produce labels well before a parcel physically leaves the warehouse. Without Mailforward, the recipient would already receive a "your parcel is on its way" email from the carrier while the shipment is still on the shelf. Wuunder prevents this: carrier communication is only released once the parcel has actually been scanned and handed over. So you work ahead without giving the recipient false expectations.

Branded experience per client

With the Mailer you offer each client a personalised post-purchase experience. Track and trace emails go out in your client's branding, not yours or the carrier's. To the recipient it feels like the brand itself is communicating. That is the service your clients expect from a premium 3PL.

All shipments from all clients in one overview. Your clients see their own shipments, you see everything.

Result: up to 70% fewer support inquiries through proactive communication.

Centralised returns handling

Returns are a major cost driver for fulfilment companies. Wuunder makes the process efficient and scalable:

  • Self-service returns portal: recipients create their own return label, no printer needed. Per client you configure return rules, return addresses and return carriers.
  • International returns: consumers return via local carriers and pickup points across Europe, without you having to set up a separate returns process per country.
  • Paperless returns: with supported carriers, recipients don't need to print a label. A QR code at the pickup point is enough.
  • Returns analytics: insight into return reasons per client, so you can advise your clients on product descriptions, size charts or packaging to reduce returns.
